Dental implants have revolutionized dental treatments, making it no longer necessary to sacrifice adjacent teeth — which may be healthy — in order to create a prosthetic restoration to replace a missing tooth.

Tooth loss creates serious problems, especially when replacement is frequently delayed. After losing a tooth, the bone will begin to resorb if no prompt intervention occurs. The neighboring and opposing teeth will migrate, leading to bite misalignment, occlusal disharmonies, and temporomandibular joint disorders.

An implant is a sterile and biocompatible component, so before its placement, a professional dental cleaning will be performed, all cavities will be treated, and any irrecoverable teeth will be extracted.

The dental implant is made from treated titanium and replaces the root of the missing tooth. To determine the height and width of the bone, an additional investigation — a 3D dental scan (CBCT) — is required, which provides a three-dimensional view of the jawbones.

The first intervention is the placement of the implant, with or without bone grafting, depending on the case. After the osseointegration period, which lasts approximately six to twelve months, the implants are uncovered and healing abutments are attached.

Next comes the intraoral scanning phase. Based on the model created in the lab, the dental technician fabricates the crown — typically within two weeks.

For patients who are completely edentulous, a number of implants can be inserted — depending on the case — to stabilize the denture.
