Dental implants have revolutionized oral treatments; thus, it is no longer a necessity to sacrifice neighboring teeth that can be healthy, in view of manufacturing a dental prosthetic device to replace one missing tooth. 

Loosing teeth creates real problems, especially if their replacement is frequently postponed. After extracting a tooth, the bone will resorb if we do not intervene promptly. The neighboring and opposite teeth will migrate, leading to occlusal disharmonies and temporomandibular joint pathologies. 

The implant is a sterile and biocompatible device and that is why before its insertion, professional cleaning will be performed, all cavities will be treated and all irreclaimable teeth will be extracted. 

The dental implant is fabricated from treated titanium and it replaces the root of the missing tooth. To assess the height and thickness of the bone, an additional investigation is needed, namely a computer tomography that renders a tri-dimensional image of the maxillary bones. 

During the first intervention, the implant is inserted, with or without bone addition, depending on the case. After the osteointegration period of about four-six months, the implant is uncovered and a healing cap is being placed.

After this step, intraoral scanning is done, the model is cast in the laboratory and the dental technician manufactures the crown in maximum two weeks.

In patients who are completely edentulous, a number of 4-6 implants can be inserted, depending on the case, with the aim to stabilize the denture.

All these require experience, competence and specialization on the part of the doctor.
